A little more about our lactation cookies...

Our home made lactation cookies recipe started in our own
kitchen. I was determined to refine a recipe that not only eliminated diary and
eggs, but that was beneficial to my health and supported postpartum repair. I
am very aware most companies have a gluten free option. But that’s it;
sometimes it feels like the gluten free option is simply to tick a box.

Breastfeeding supplements are widely available in Australia,
but they don’t all take into consideration the growing number of babies with cow’s
milk protein allergies and other allergies alike, and the growing number of mums
crying out for breastfeeding support and foods to increase milk supply before turning
to medical alternatives.

I mostly had a good milk supply with my first baby after our
initial newborn troubleshooting. But when I became aware of my second child’s (multiple)
allergies and needed to be on a restricted diet my supply dropped overnight. I
was suddenly faced with the reality of needing to source nutritious food to
sustain me, but quickly realised most gluten free options were loaded with
sugar to compensate on taste or were simply undesirable.

I was making most things from scratch, having already
adjusted my diet to dairy free for my first baby, and after a lot of support
and research I developed this gluten free vegan lactation cookies recipe which I
wanted to make widely available to all mums.

The mum is often overlooked as everyone rushes past to the
thriving baby, and this was a key motivator in wanting this product to be
convenient and ready to eat. Something we commonly struggle with is eating right
when we’re sleep deprived, and looking after ourselves usually comes last,
under the long list of the housework and keeping the baby alive. But eating the
right foods to increase milk supply, boost our energy and help US to thrive shouldn’t
be hard, especially when food restrictions apply.

Gluten free lactation cookies don’t need to be bland, and
they don’t need to be loaded with sugar either. We use gluten free brewers
yeast and wheat free oats in all our recipes and bake in a designated gluten
free kitchen. We also can adapt any recipe to make oat free lactation cookies
or gluten free lactation cookies with no oats. Simply get in touch to order your
custom batch.
